Abstract

I purchased a domestic knitting machine from the 1980s and turned it into a printer. Find out how I did it using Python to talk to the machine and custom hardware builds to upgrade its components. I'll also provide a showcase of some of the artwork I knit today including scarves, laptop covers and blankets.

Sarah is a hobbyist maker. She hacked a knitting machine from the 1980s and turned it into a local printer. It's been a few years in the making, but she now prints her artwork onto scarves, laptop covers, pillow cases and baby blankets. Find out how she did it and the roadblocks along the way.
