Roland Gesthuizen is a STEM Method Lecturer at Monash University, Melbourne. Secretary for Mag-Net association for STEM Educators, Journal Editor for the DLTV, ACCELN Cohost and Group Leader for 1st The Basin Scouts. ACCE Educator of the Year and ISTE Making IT Happen Awardee. Many years ago Roland worked as a research scientist with the Orica, explosives division. As an Internet pioneer he was amongst the first to receive an email from a US President and first to build an Australian public utility website. With a team of secondary students, he built and operated an EarthDial used by the NASA Mars Rovers for the Planetary Society. Describes himself as a Whovian, Trekkie and Space Science Geek. Enjoys tinkering in Maker Spaces, challenging thinking, and learning new things such as how to ride a unicycle.
